Change is good

I’ve officially moved! I have not officially unpacked.

Over the weekend we moved into a new apartment. We were looking for a house but after a pretty extensive search and much indecisiveness we decided to try living in a high rise and maybe continue the search next year. Change is good, and this place caters to where we are now. More sunlight, a more open floor plan but! we’ve downsized to a one bedroom with a den. We got rid of a lot of furniture and now we have to look for replacements but moreso storage options since we do not have a full room’s space to deal with. Here is a glimpse of our new view:

I’m very happy. We need curtains because it is too bright in the morning (I’ve been up around 7.30am and I normally sleep til 8/9) and I’ve been working extremely hard and til late trying to empty boxes and make in here decent by the weekend. I can’t deal with this clutter, I like organized clutter :). I’ll be back to posting soon but I just wanted to share what was going on. Have you been watching the Olympics? I’ve been sneaking in some while unpacking.

On a lighter note, I LOVE this commercial! Simply because it shows true human nature. Some of those things I see happening to me but fortunately none of them have. Enjoy!

Michael’s (haul)

Michael’s (haul)

This morning I went to Michael’s with one thing in mind. I told myself I will not stray but obviously that didn’t work. I wanted to get baskets to store my toiletries in because I’m trying to have more organization around here. Yes everything is stacked up neatly, but I just wanted them to be grouped in containers that I could find them better. Well I got my baskets and I just couldn’t help but go in search of other goodies! So let’s start this haul!

After I decided on 3 baskets, I went looking for invitation ideas. As I said before, we’re moving, and I want to do a housewarming and be a little old fashioned with invites. I love my craft as well so I wasn’t just looking for regular invitations. In searching for note cards with our last name initial on it, I got awfully sidelined and ended up getting more stuff than I could ever imagine. Everything was under $2!!!

Cards, stamps and ink pads

I have a fascination with notebooks/journals/paper. When I saw these journals I thought ok, maybe one Symone… But nooooo! They all looked so pretty I couldn’t help but get these (there were more but these were my fave, so imagine my heartbreak!). I also found a memo cube with our initial so I picked that up as well. I believe in writing notes, I don’t always remember to check the extra notes in my phone >_<.

Next, I picked up some trinkets for my dresser. I’m trying to make my space more feminine and personal. I thought these frames were adorable (and in my colours) and I love the ceramic owls for dropping my daily jewelry must-haves in if I’m too lazy to put them up properly.

For my last two items, the colour drew me in more than anything. I love the colours for the coupon folder! I got this so that I can now free up my purse. The size is perfect to drop into my handbag, and it’s cute! I never liked the plastic ones people use and I don’t carry that many coupons to have something that big. The other set of paper so neatly wrapped up are recipe cards. I’ve been looking for something like this for a while (the white index cards just aren’t doing it for me). I know I’ll be on the hunt for a cute box to store them in that is kitchen-friendly. Maybe I may pull out recipes more now haha!

I only decided to do this post after I packed everything away in the baskets so another time I’ll take things out and take pictures. The baskets were also a very good deal. Michael’s has 40% off all Ashland baskets so I paid under $30 for 3 baskets! I love Michael’s! I could get lost in there for hours but I still need money to buy other goodies hahaha.

Hope you enjoyed this post!

Summer

Summer

Can you believe June is halfway already?! I swear this year is going by even faster than last year. Every year I tell my husband about places I want to go to and things I want to do during the Summer. He won’t always be involved because I know they may seem like torture for him but he’ll join me if he’s up to it. Summer is the best time of the year here in Bellevue. The weather is… warmer. Not necessarily less rain but at least the warmth makes you feel better on sunny days – shorts and no coats too! So as I was laying in bed yesterday, I had a few ideas that I thought I’d like to do this Summer and share with you.

  1. Go to afternoon tea. I just really want to do it. I need to research where it’s done here or just head to The British Pantry.
  2. See the Seattle zoo. My family came and went 3 years ago when they came for my wedding and I still haven’t been. *ashamed*
  3. Go to the farmer’s market in my city. It’s a 5 minute walk away and I always forget to go because it starts at 3pm. Need to put that in my calendar.
  4. I am still to see the Botanical gardens that we used to live next to.
  5. Host a Summer party with Cocktails and appetizers made by me. Maybe I’ll do that for a housewarming party! *noted*

I think I got the entertaining bug from my parents because it was something I grew up with, and it always bites the hardest during the warmer months. Pinterest hasn’t helped either with all of the ideas I got from there… Here are a few (click on the picture to be directed to it’s page):

Mason jar Cocktails

Lemon, Cucumber & Ginger Water
Sarasota Lemonade

I also have a book called Sips and Apps by Kathy Casey that I got from Crate and Barrel that I’m excited to try out. We’ve decided that we’re going to have a mini bar area in our new place. I have glasses and and recipes so now is the time to get crackin’!

What plans do you have for Summer? I’ve got so many things lined up I get chills when I remember them. But at the end of the day, I’m very thankful that I’m busy, that I’m not sitting twiddling my thumbs like a lot of people seem to think I do. Life is good. Life is great. We’ve had some interesting fortunes in fortune cookies and I hope things go as positively as they “predicted”.

Forget Y.O.L.O. This Summer’s motto is Live. Laugh. Love.
