“Fall” On me

I know I’ve been absent for a while and I had to deal with some stuff so I had to put blogging on hold. Plus, I don’t want to adopt the attitude of writing just for the sake of it if I’m not feeling somewhat 100%. I’ve been at 65% this week and I was just waiting to get a little higher. The sun made an appearance today and that has helped somewhat as we have been truly been experiencing Fall with all it’s rain and chill glory. As I type, I’m in socks, jeans, a thermal tee and a nice thick robe over that to make sure I feel warm and cozy. I HATE to feel cold – I am from the Caribbean, enough said.

Even though I haven’t been able to workout this week, I had to get out of the house so I’d spent my time looking for a few fall/winter must-haves that I realized were necessary after I switched up my closet. I finally got a pair of casual wedge booties. That was a very hard task as my ankles are quite small and I HATE looking like I have the boniest ankles and they’re swimming in my boots – because other people do it and are fine with it doesn’t mean I have to as well. I was searching since the end of August.  I don’t like wearing my mid calf flats all the time and after all I’m still trying to build the average Fall/Winter must haves since I’m still relatively new to this whole thing.

I was also looking for a short coat as I only have one to my mid thigh and 3 pleather jackets (I ain’t foolin’ myself or anyone else and they don’t keep me that warm when it gets colder anyway). So I decided to just get something that I can wear when I don’t need all of the coverage my other coat gives me. And my petite-ish frame makes this another “fun” task as arms can be pretty long or I can’t find my size in the one coat I love. I’ve also been trying to stock up on a few more sweaters as I just wanted a few to fit into the little change my wardrobe has made fashion wise. I’ll probably buy them periodically throughout winter but for now I think I’m pretty satisfied with what I have. It probably sounds like I’ve been doing quite a bit of shopping and I won’t lie, I kinda have, but it’s rather frustrating when you have to spend so much time looking for things when you don’t fit the average size – it has been bittersweet.

Gym is next week  and would you believe I missed it? I really wanted to get in there but that isn’t the best idea right now. I think I’ll just dive into it again next week but hopefully over the weekend I’ll be able to just sneak in for a minute or two and feel refreshed.

In light of the passing of Steve Jobs and my reflective nature these last few days/weeks, I’ll like to end with this quote.

You can’t connect the dots looking forward; you can only connect them looking backwards. So you have to trust that the dots will somehow connect in your future. You have to trust in something — your gut, destiny, life, karma, whatever. This approach has never let me down, and it has made all the difference in my life. – Steve Jobs
