Addictions- Good ones :)

I used to be a bookworm but stopped for some reason (probably university) and I have books stacked on my bookshelf that haven’t been read. So I decided recently that instead of getting lost “Window” shopping online, I’ll start reading books to pass the time. I said that early last week and still hadn’t started to read anything lol. On Saturday night I couldn’t get to sleep and I started reading The Lost Symbol by Dan Brown (author of The DaVinci Code and Angels and Demons). I’d bought it since January and it just sat there on the bookshelf all this time. Well I was reading in bed and I had church at 9am in the morning. Before  I knew it, it was almost 12am and 2 hours had passed and 1/4 of the book in, I had trouble closing it and going to sleep. IT IS SOOOOOO GOOD!!! It reads like DaVinci Code but still thrilling and hard to put down!!

If that wasn’t enough to give me separation anxiety, my husband downloaded Plants vs Zombies (PvZ) on his iPad for me to play Sunday morning when I got home from church. I played from 11am to 3pm straight… I could NOT put it down!!! So I’ve had a pretty hard time deciding which I want to spend my time doing. I started playing PvZ  yesterday but I couldn’t do much I think my strategy skills work better just before bed or on the weekends. The book… I’m going to start reading as I’m done with this post :P.

Anyway, on the food front, Fran’s Gray & Smoked Salted Caramels are my addiction right now http://www.franschocolates.com/store/home.php?cat=2 . It’s based in Washington (Seattle metro area) so I can’t say where else they’re sold but they’re AMAZING! My friend introduced me to them one day after lunch last month and I’ve been hooked since. I limit myself to one a day though, two max but I try to keep it down to one a day.

Summer officially started today soooooo it’s Summer songs again!! 😀

The beat in this song by Pitbull that just makes me dance silly and feel awesome! 🙂

I’ve mentioned Livvi Franc and Heather Bright before, and they wrote this song. It’s actually my fave song on Femme Fatale as well so enjoy 🙂

Enjoy! 🙂

Can you believe June is already halfway and also the year? Hell, I don’t even know what I’ve been doing but it’s going so fast. Got my hair cut today 🙂 ready for summer! I am finding plenty recipes for that vanilla crumb cake but I want to buy it not bake it! LOL. I’m not a cake baker at heart……… I prefer to buy it. Brownies I’d do in a heartbeat, but not cake.

I take my vitamins every morning and night but when heat hits, it hits hard! I just get sooo tired!! The cold keeps you up and the heat makes you sleepy.. Where’s the happy medium? Today is a nice day though. I was almost burnt by the car seats when I came out from the hairdresser, but I’m not complaining, waited 5 months to have it happen anyway. The nice days are spread out and luckily so far they’ve been on the weekends when Dave is home.

I’ve been blessed with this awful bloodshot on my toe (from dancing too much in my boots 😦 ) and I’m waiting on it to disappear a little more before I get a pedicure. So I’ve been fashionably wearing this crap (sans nail polish) around with  pride as I know what it is and screw anyone who wants to tell me otherwise soon I’ll have pretty polished toes :D. I mean who really wants to have a bloodshot on their toe when it’s slippers season? Anyway, soon….

I’m going to share a few of my “Summer jams” today hope you like them as well 🙂

Livvi Franc!!

Jennifer Lopez ft Lil Wayne (my sis-in-law introduced me to this one last week :D)

I’ll post more another time, but these here are on repeat 😀

All of the Lights…

I know I’ve been M.I.A., but this month has been a roller-coaster in these first 2 weeks. I have a picture filled post for you so enjoy!

This month started with a bang for me – Bruno Mars and Janelle Monáe’s concert – AWESOME!!!!!!! I LOVE going to concerts and the artists sounds as amazing live as on the album! I’d heard a few of Janelle Monáe’s songs but I’m definitely a fan of her now, she’s a true performer. Bruno Mars….. not much to be said here, just LOVES him! The temps have gone up and I’m loving the few sunny days we had! Here are a few pics 🙂 (my camera isn’t the best but at least I got some pics 🙂 )

I also just returned from an unplanned trip to New York. It wasn’t under the best circumstances as a family member on my husband’s side fell ill and we went there to see him. This was the first time I went to NY since I was like 2 years old and it was a “bittersweet” trip. We stayed in Great Neck as it was close to the hospital and it was a reallllly nice area.  While there we went to a restaurant/bakery called Bruce’s every morning for breakfast and it was LOVELY! It was a lot of food and the first morning I couldn’t finish my breakfast… But that was also in part due to the vanilla crumb cake that I mauled before my plate came out, and you’ll see why I had a hard time parting with this restaurant.

While there, it was my father-in-law’s birthday and we went to Matsuya restaurant (http://matsuyasushi.com/). The food was  nice and I’d definitely recommend it :D.  We also took a day trip to Manhattan, the weather wasn’t the best for a sight-seeing trip but we made the most of it. We went to the preview site for the Ground Zero memorial (model shown below), saw the Paramount Theater, passed the Brooklyn bridge (was too cloudy to see it properly and get a clear shot), hung around Times Square, and had dim sum for lunch in China Town.

As I said, it was a bittersweet trip. I met some of Dave’s family I’d never met before and he was able to see cousins he hadn’t seen in a while. Life is full of unexpected events but it’s how we respond that make us better or worse as a person. Also, family is the most important thing in our lives. We’re often brought together during the low points (funerals and sickness) but it’s to keep the bond strong for future generations to come.

You don’t choose your family.  They are God’s gift to you, as you are to them.  ~ Desmond Tutu
